The Machine Gunners won the Carnegie Medal and was recently voted one of the 10 most important children’s novels of the past 70 years. This moving and touching story vividly re-creates life in Britain during World War II, and is guaranteed to resonate with children and adults today.
Autism Friendly Performance
The Autism Friendly Performance of The Machine Gunners will take place on Saturday 19 March 2011 at 11am. These performances are aimed at families whose children are on the autism spectrum or who have sensory sensitivities. The sound will be at a lower volume and the lights will be dimmed rather than a completely dark auditorium. A gentle and fascinating shadow show. Artist and musician Su Eaton invites you into her world of light and shadow, drawing in the sand to create and shape stories with accompanying live music, song and audience participation.
